Joyful Oaks Pudelpointers

Who We Are

My name is Brad Scott and my wife’s name is Amy. We work together to bring you the finest Pudelpointer puppies available. We live on a 2.8-acre property located in Ramona, California within the county of San Diego. I am a native San Diegan and have always loved animals, especially dogs. I grew up hunting with my dad and got my first shotgun when I was 13. I have such wonderful memories hunting with my dad and with friends and family. I want to be a part of creating wonderful memories for families by providing outstanding hunting companions. We love the outdoors and enjoy activities such as hunting, camping, back packing, hiking, skiing, surfing, and weightlifting. We are also very involved with our community and especially enjoy working with the youth of San Diego. Amy is an elementary school teacher and when she was young, she was heavily involved in 4H and raised pigs and lambs, but especially enjoyed raising Labrador Retrievers as guide dogs for the blind. I am so excited that I can now provide the opportunity for other families to bring into their homes these wonderful, sweet, loving, companions. It is extremely important to us to breed responsibly. We health test our breeding dogs and guarantee to provide healthy puppies to our families.

How We Got Started

I really enjoy my dogs and I love to hunt. I fell in love with my first Pudelpointer, Ellie, and I wanted to have a little Ellie to hunt with too. I have always loved science and animals and I wanted to work with animals, but just never made the transition from a stable science job to working with animals. I love science, but I was excited when the opportunity became available to raise puppies. My mother-in-law needed extra care and I was able to move from a very small house in the city to a large house in the country with a main home and a granny flat on 2.8 acres. By combining forces, I was able to help my mother-in-law and I was also able to move into a property that was perfect for raising puppies and for my dogs to enjoy themselves. My wife and mother-in-law also love animals and have been totally supportive of my passion for dogs.

Why Did We Choose Pudelpointers?

I wanted to get a hunting dog that I could use to hunt quail, pheasant, chucker, dove, and ducks. I didn’t want to have different dogs for upland game and waterfowl. I also just love a pointing dog. There is something so cool about a dog pointing. Dogs have been a big part of my life and they have brought so many wonderful memories. I grew up with extreme allergies and asthma as a kid. When I decided that I wanted to get a hunting dog, I needed one that would be allergy friendly for me. It was also important for us to have a dog that we could trust around small children. We often have small children in our home, and we do not want to take a risk of a child being bitten or nipped. I, of course, also wanted a dog that had a strong prey drive and was easy to train. When doing research on hunting dogs I came across the Pudelpointer. I searched out a Pudelpointer expert in San Diego and Amy and I were able to meet her dogs. After meeting her dogs and watching them hunt and play together we knew that the Pudelpointer was the hunting dog for us.
